Use your technical and mechanical expertise by inspecting materials and products for conformance to blueprint specifications and works with the development, application and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials and products by performing the following job duties.

RESPONSIBILITIES

*Evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement and analytical equipment and facilities.

*Disposes of discrepant material.

*Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data.

  concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.

*Verify accuracy of gauges and measuring instruments such as dial indicators, all

  gauges,  height gauges and electrical and functional gauges and reports discrepancies.

*Measures surfaces for flatness and finish.

*Checks accuracy of parts to blueprint specifications for such information as dimensions and tolerances

   (i.e.GD&T).

*Computes unspecified dimensions and other data like variances.

*Reassembles gauge and adjusts stops and levers to specified settings.

*Visually and dimensionally inspects first piece materials or production parts for any defects or

  discrepancies and reports.

*Verifies specified dimensions of product and material to the conformance of workpiece blueprint

  specifications using measuring instruments such as micrometer, caliper, go-no-gauges,  etc.

*Compares product with parts list of sample model to ensure completion of assembly.

*Use statistical process control techniques.

*Daily uses computer to perform data input or inquiry.

*May inspect the accuracy of new gauges and instruments for conformance to blueprint specifications

  before they are released for production use.

*Rejects defective parts and marks type of defect on proper documentation of paperwork or tag.

*Reads blueprint and Job Traveler for such information as dimensions, tolerances, work center outside services and finished operations and number of work pieces to be machined.

*Complete basic CMM programming without supervision.

*Transports finished materials, manually or using pallet jack, to area indicated in Job Traveler.

*May be required to work in the shop on production or work directly with shop personnel.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

*High school diploma or GED equivalent.

*Previous experience, apprenticeship or formal training desired.

*More than 5 years experience in Inspection field or related machine operation experience.

 *Degree or certification in related field preferred.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

*Ability to perform advanced math skills related to manufacturing environment.

*Ability to read and interpret blueprints.  (i.e. assembly blueprints, production blueprints, etc.).

*Excellent knowledge of standard inspection variables like thread, knurling, hardness finish operations.

*Proficient in the use of basic inspection measurement equipment. (i.e. height gauge, comparator, thread gauges, plug gauges, hardness tester, dynascope, indicator profilometer, CMM, etc,).

*Ability to pay attention to detail to visually inspect and recognize discrepancies in part's defects,

  blueprints, etc.

*Basic computer knowledge with data entry skills.

*Regularly lift, push or pull up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds.

*Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision in which 20/20 vision or corrected vision to 20/20 vision is required.

Pre-employment:  Background check, drug screen and mini physical with vision test required.
