Inspects materials and products for conformance to blueprint specifications and works with the development, application and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials and products by performing the following job duties.


*Follows program to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement and analytical equipment and facilities.

*Follows procedures for disposition of discrepant material.

*May be required to direct workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data

  concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.

*May be required to verify accuracy of gauges and measuring instruments such as dial indicators, all

  gauges,  height gauges and electrical and functional gauges and reports discrepancies to Inspection


*Measures surfaces for flatness and finish.

*Checks accuracy of parts to blueprint specifications for such information as dimensions and tolerances


*Computes unspecified dimensions and other data like variances as needed.

*Reassembles gauge and adjusts stops and levers to specified settings.

*Visually and dimensionally inspects first piece materials or production parts for any defects or

  discrepancies and reports them to Inspection Supervisor.

*Verifies specified dimensions of product and material to the conformance of workpiece blueprint

  specifications using measuring instruments such as micrometer, caliper, go-no-gauges,  etc.

*Compares product with parts list of sample model to ensure completion of assembly.

*May be required to use statistical process control techniques.

*Daily uses computer to perform data input or inquiry as  needed in accordance to established company

  guidelines. (i.e. Vantage System, etc.)

*Operates Fabrivision system to perform program operations.

*May inspect the accuracy of new gauges and instruments for conformance to blueprint specifications

  before they are released for production use.

*Rejects defective parts and marks type of defect on proper documentation of paperwork or tag.

*Relies on specific instructions and preestablished guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

*Reads blueprint and Job Traveler for such information as dimensions, tolerances, work center outside services and finished operations and number of workpieces to be machined.

*May be required to complete basic CMM and dynascope programming without supervision.

*Understands and follows Prince Industries quality certifications (i.e. ISO, QS) as relates to position.

*Completes all necessary job related paperwork in a concise and timely manner, (such as tags

  inspection reports.) and maintains related files and storage effectively.

*Transports finished materials, manually or using pallet jack, to area indicated in Job Traveler.

*May be required to work in the shop on production or work directly with shop personnel as instructed by

  Inspection Supervisor.


*High school diploma or GED equivalent.

*Previous experience, apprenticeship or formal training desired.

*More than 5 years experience in Inspection field or related machine operation experience.

 *Degree or certification in related field preferred.


*Ability to recognize and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance 

   instructions, inspection materials and procedure manuals. 

*Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form with supervisor and all levels within the

  company as it relates to the job duties.

*Ability to comprehend and follow oral or written instructions.

*Good working knowledge of Fabrivision System.

*Ability to perform advanced math skills related to manufacturing environment.

*Ability to read and interpret blueprints.  (i.e. assembly blueprints, production blueprints, etc.).

*Excellent knowledge of standard inspection variables like thread, knurling, hardness finish operations.

*Knowledge of standard concepts, practices and procedures within inspection and quality control field.

*Excellent knowledge of company's quality and production standards.

*Familiar with relevant ISO/QS procedures.

*Proficient in the use of basic inspection measurement equipment. (i.e. height gauge, comparator, thread gauges, plug gauges, hardness tester, dynascope, indicator profilometer, CMM, Fabrivision etc,).

*Ability to pay attention to detail to visually inspect and recognize discrepancies in part's defects,

  blueprints, etc.

*Basic computer knowledge with data entry skills.


*Regularly required to sit, stand or walk the duration of shift, 8-10 hours.

*Frequently required to talk or hear.

*Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach or bend.

*Regularly lift, push or pull up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds.

*Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision in which 20/20 vision or corrected vision

  to 20/20 vision is required.

*Frequently required to visually inspect parts for color matches.

*Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts

*Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles resulting from metalworking coolants and oils.

Pre-employment:  Background check, drug screen and mini physical with vision test required.
