*Follows procedures for disposition of discrepant material.
*May be required to direct workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.
*May be required to verify accuracy of gauges and measuring instruments such as dial indicators, all gauges, height gauges and electrical and functional gauges and reports discrepancies to Inspection Supervisor.
*Measures surfaces for flatness and finish.
*Checks accuracy of parts to blueprint specifications for such information as dimensions and tolerances.
*Computes unspecified dimensions and other data like variances.
*Reassembles gauge and adjusts stops and levers to specified settings.
*Visually and dimensionally inspects first piece materials or production parts for any defects or
discrepancies and reports them to Inspection Supervisor.
*Verifies specified dimensions of product and material to the conformance of workpiece blueprint specifications using measuring instruments such as micrometer, caliper, go-no-gauges, etc.
*Compares product with parts list of sample model to ensure completion of assembly.
*May be required to use statistical process control techniques.
*Daily uses computer to perform data input or inquiry as needed in accordance to established company guidelines. (i.e. Vantage System, etc.)
*Operates Fabrivision system to perform program operations.
*May inspect the accuracy of new gauges and instruments for conformance to blueprint specifications before they are released for production use.
*Rejects defective parts and marks type of defect on proper documentation of paperwork or tag.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
*High school diploma or GED equivalent.
*Previous experience, apprenticeship or formal training desired.
*More than 5 years experience in Inspection field or related machine operation experience.
*Degree or certification in related field preferred.
*Reads blueprint and Job Traveler for such information as dimensions, tolerances, work center outside services and finished operations and number of workpieces to be machined.
*May be required to complete basic CMM and dynascope programming without supervision.
*Understands and follows Prince Industries quality certifications (i.e. ISO, QS) as relates to position.
*Secures all tooling and instruments required for the job. (Doc # PQ01F02 / PQ01F03)
*Ability to perform advanced math skills related to manufacturing environment.
*Ability to read and interpret blueprints. (i.e. assembly blueprints, production blueprints, etc.).
*Excellent knowledge of standard inspection variables like thread, knurling, hardness finish operations.
*Knowledge of standard concepts, practices and procedures within inspection and quality control field.
*Proficient in the use of basic inspection measurement equipment. (i.e. height gauge, comparator, thread gauges, plug gauges, hardness tester, dynascope, indicator profilometer, CMM,Fabrivision etc,).
*Ability to pay attention to detail to visually inspect and recognize discrepancies in part's defects, blueprints, etc.
*Basic computer knowledge with data entry skills.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
*Regularly required to sit, stand or walk the duration of shift, 8-10 hours.
*Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach or bend.
*Regularly lift, push or pull up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds.
*Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision in which 20/20 vision or corrected vision to 20/20 vision is required.
*Frequently required to visually inspect parts for color matches.
*Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts
*Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles resulting from metalworking coolants and oils.
Pre-employment: Vision Test, background check, drug screen, ability to lift and carry 45 pounds required (mini physical)
